How do you tell the difference between a real Rolex and one of these fake ones? I bet there are distinct ways to tell the difference.

several ways:

- the band looks cheap and fades or is not the correct color metal.
- the crown guards stick out too far and need to be shaved.
- the bezel insert looks cheap.
- the weight of the watch is off and it’s too light.
- the magnification bubble over the date is less than 2.5x.
- the date font of the date dial is wrong.
- no hack mechanism - the watch doesn’t stop when the winding tube is pulled out.
- the movement of the watch is not smooth sweeps, but rather short, jerky sweeps.
- lettering - the lettering is off.
- holograms - the hologram on the back of the watch is cheap, wrong, or faded.

Shall I go on?

I was thinking about buying one of these watches for my husband. Do you think it’s really worth the price or should I get him a $100 replica from another site?

What is the difference between the $500 replica and a $100 replica rolex?

The wm9 SUB is definitely the best out of the box, Jeffs comments are incorrect on several points (there are two versions of this wm9 sub and a 3rd FINAL version coming soon, as of OCT). However Jeff is correct about the date font and magnification being slightly incorrect. This watch is the best you CAN buy, but is not perfect with out a few modifications. My experience is with genuine Rolex and counterfeit Rolexs, i’ve built and rebuilt both. WM9 is for the modders and the average Joe looking for the most accurate Sub out of the shipping package. This watch accepts genuine parts… thats where the REAL fun begins.

Hey Jim!

So what is wrong with the date font and magnification on these wm9 subs? If I bought one of these subs where could I get it modded to fix the magnification and date font?

I have also heard that the crown and bezel guards need to be shaved down on the wm9 subs. Is this true?

Thanks,
Brian

wow jim… so based on your comment, i can assume that someone could buy a watch from that site and then sell it on ebay and pass if off as an authentic. would people realize easily?

also if this watch does accept genuine parts then you could just keep purchasing rolexes from various dealers and swap the parts out 1-by-1 and then return the watches. until you have an authentic rolex!

What happened to the WM9 site and why can I no longer purchase watches off this site?
