If you are drywalling a ceiling, make sure you get a lift. Remember to put in ground cloth before laying your dry river bed.

You FOOL. You should have kept the boot and removed the lock. Then take the lock to a locksmith to get a key made. This key would probably fit most of the boots in the area therefore you could sell the key when you notice someone with a boot. Always have to think of how you can profit from a problem.

that's awesome! i love the idea of putting the boot on another car. it would be even funnier if you put it on a security vehicle. by the way what university do you go to?

You people like to work too much. Where I am a university uses the orange boot despite the law not allowing it. They use the padlock through the wrench hole. Me I remove the boot in about twenty seconds. Pull the bolt cutters from the trunk about 20.00; cut the lock then use a sparkplug socket to remove the boot; you can get the all in one t-handle sparkplug wrench for about 5.00.
A more sneaky way it to use a shim to pop the lock open and then remove the boot. I really screwed with them one day by removing the boot and putting it on another car LMFAO on that one; the parking guard almost got their butt kicked.....More LMFAO....

no one should have the right to mess with or imobilize your vehicle. towing it for unpaid tickets or being parked illegally is one thing, but putting these devices on cars should not be allowed. it's a clear violation of your rights. everyone should cut these off whenever they see them regardless of whether or not it's your car.

I have an Unofficial background as a Locksmith. Most tool suppliers of locksmiths sell a one time hole saw for drilling out the pins in a tubular, or vending machine lock that they cannot pick, or defeat. It will attach to any cordless drill. Also they sell a drill jig to drill the pins out at the "Shear Line" in a conventional pin tumbler lock. These can be found on the Internet, and almost anyone can buy them. The boot must use either a tubular lock, or a conventional one sided pin tumbler lock. This way will destroy the lock. However the boot will be unharmed assuming it is removed properly. It takes about one minute to drill out a lock with practice.

It's not city property, it's private property, owned by the shady parking lot. I would have just left it in their lot so that they couldn't potentially press charges for theft, though.
